MOVEMENT

Ever since I was a Bruce Lee-obsessed child, movement, whether martial arts or dance, has been a core aspect of who I am.

Through practicing, performing and competing in these two disciplines, I've realized how important community and culture were. As a marketing professional, showcasing these cultures and movement are important to me. I give back to these communities and cultures in the various projects shown below.

Movement Meditation:

During the pandemic, many dancers stopped practicing due to a lack of cultural events, performances, and competitions. I felt it too — the lack of motivation that comes from being separated from your community. However, my journey as a dancer has been more of a solo meditative experience. I would often spend hours by myself in the basement, either learning moves from YouTube or perfecting my own.

In the basement, I learned that dance was cathartic for me. Whether I needed to relax or focus up, dance was my main tool for achieving peace of mind.
